Hampshire waste and recycling company Waltet has become the first business in the county to fit Dawes Highway Safety PeoplePanels®.
The PeoplePanels® are made of tough shatter-resistant composite plastic and are designed to be fitted over the under run bars or side guards of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).
Research shows that flat panels over under-run bars offer huge safety benefits to vulnerable road users because they point out the danger zone between the front and rear wheels of an HGV and also prevent entanglement of clothing or body parts in the event of a collision.
Waltet has chosen a panel design that directly promotes safety on Hampshire roads, helping to deliver reassurance for cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians.
The new panels were launched at Waltet’s Romsey site at an event attended by Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, Hampshire Road Police unit and Test Valley councillors.
Waltet MD Mark Howard said: “Waltet is proud of its health and safety for our many vehicles. Having gained our FORS Bronze accreditation in 2015 this latest investment is an example of our ongoing commitment to providing safer vehicles for people in Hampshire.”
James Dawes, Managing Director of Dawes Highway Safety, said: “We are pleased to supply our PeoplePanels® to Waltet as part of its commitment to road safety. We are especially proud that Waltet have become the first company in our home county of Hampshire to take delivery of the PeoplePanels®.”
